How To Cook Spinach

Ingredients:

 Spinach: 1Kg

Everybody likes to have spinach but in his or her own way including Papaya the sailor who eats a lot of Have good quality spinach and check for any damaged leaves. Pick these damaged leaves aside. Rinse the picked leaves of spinach under a faucet to remove any debris or dirt left in the leaves.

Have water in a deep pot to boil the spinach. Cut spinach into small pieces with kitchen knife taking them into bundles to make it easy for you to cut them smoothly and of equal width. South Asian women are used to take these leaves in bundles and cut them with traditional knives made for the purpose.

Put the cut spinach in boiling water and boil for at least ten minutes. When the spinach is boiled put it aside. Coat a large shallow skillet with cooking oil and keep the pan on medium heat allowing the oil to warm up before you add any other ingredients.

Add freshly chopped red onion to the skillet with a pinch of salt and cook it until the onion becomes translucent, then add garlic to the onion and continue stirring for about one minute and then add the spinach and allow it to cook on simmering heat for two to three minutes. Delicious spinach is ready to serve. There is but something more to add to your way of cooking spinach. Be careful while buying spinach if you want to have half kilogram of cooked spinach then you must buy around 3 Kg of spinach. As a thumb rule 16 oz of spinach reduces to less than a cup after being cooked. If you come across mature spinach leaves, do not forget to remove the hard stalks as they can ruin not only the taste but also your other preparations.
